In the past year, apart from the work relating to the Land Titles Ordinance the Legal Services Branch has continued to provide legal advisory and support services to the Land Registry relating to the Deeds Registration System and owners’ corporations under the Building Management Ordinance. Advice has also been provided on the legal issues relating to Standard Terms Documents and e-memorial forms. Research on alternative means to deal with the removal of long outstanding stopped deeds, following the rejection of the scheme proposed in the Land Registration (Amendment) Bill 2002, was completed and consultation on the recommended new scheme commenced with the Law Society of Hong Kong.
