Maintaining a reliable, accessible registration system is the primary
function of the Land Registry. We have been utilising modern information
technology to increase the security, accuracy and accessibility
of land records. The security design of the Integrated Registration
Information System of the Land Registry is based on a comprehensive
security risk assessment. Leading edge technologies for authenticity,
integrity, confidentiality and availability have been deployed.
To meet world class security standards, the Land Registry commissions
external independent consultants to conduct security audits of the
system regularly. Our aim is to ensure that our customers and the
community can
- Trust the integrity of the data in the system;
- Trust the integrity of operations and use of the data; and
- Trust that the system will be available for use whenever it
is needed.
In 2003/04, the Land Registry, with our partners and contractors,
maintained a high level of availability for existing systems. No
security breaches were recorded. No loss of data was encountered.
