The Land Titles Ordinance (Cap. 585) was enacted on 7 July 2004. The proposed TRS will transform the present system of deeds registration into a system of title registration. Under the proposed system, once a person is registered in the Title Register as the owner, he is recognised by law as the legal owner. Title registration system has been operating in many overseas common law jurisdictions like Australia, New Zealand, England, Canada and Singapore, and is generally recognised to be the most efficient and secure system for registration of ownership of land.
